At the Edge of the Seen World: Announcing Our Briar & Bone Garment Line

briar and bone

There are places in the world where the air feels different. A bend in the path where the trees lean just a little too close. A stretch of shoreline where the fog lingers longer than it should. A quiet hollow where sound softens, and something in you grows alert and aware that you are no longer entirely alone.
Across cultures and centuries, these places have been known as thresholds. Liminal spaces. The edges of the known world. And it is here, in these in-between places, that the old stories tell us the Fae are closest.
At Black Mountain Druidry, we have long walked these edges in spirit through our practices, our teachings, and our commitment to reconnecting with the living world. Now, we are stepping into that threshold in a new way.
We are honored to announce our upcoming line of Faery and Fae-inspired ceremonial garments: Briar and Bone.

Not Fantasy, But Folklore

This is not a collection inspired by glittering wings or storybook whimsy. The Fae of old were never merely decorative. They were not gentle companions nor harmless spirits. They were, and are, mysterious, powerful, and often unsettling presences, rooted deeply in the land itself.
They are the Keepers of the Hollow Hills. The Watchers at the edge of the firelight. The ones who dwell just beyond the reach of certainty. The workers of magic using briar and bone.
Our garment line draws from this older understanding. These pieces are not costumes. They are not designed for performance or spectacle alone. They are ritual garments, created for those who feel called to walk closer to the unseen, to stand at the threshold, and to listen.

Garments for the Liminal Path

Each piece in this collection has been conceived with a single question in mind:
What would you wear when stepping out of the ordinary world and into the in-between?
The answer is not bright or ornate. It is not loud. It is quiet. Subtle. Rooted in the Earth.

From Briar and Bone, Expect:

  • Natural fibers such as linen and wool
  • Muted, earth-born tones that evoke lichen, ash, dusk-blue, peat, bone
  • Flowing, layered silhouettes that obscure as much as they reveal
  • Slight asymmetries and irregularities that echo the imperfect beauty of the natural world

These garments are meant to feel as though they belong to the land itself—as though they have been shaped by wind, worn by time, and touched by something just beyond naming.

The Feeling of Crossing Over

Briar and Bone

There is a moment, known to many who walk a spiritual path, when something shifts. It may come during a solitary walk at dusk.
Or while sitting quietly beneath an old tree. Or in ritual, when the boundary between inner and outer begins to dissolve.
It is the feeling of crossing over, not into another world entirely, but into a deeper layer of this one.
This clothing line is designed to support that moment.
To mark it. To honor it. To give it form.
When you wear garments from the Briar and Bone line, the intention is not to become something else, but to become more fully attuned to your true self…to the subtle, the hidden, the half-glimpsed.

The First Pieces from Briar and Bone

While we will share full details in the coming weeks, the initial collection will include:

  • The Hedgewalker Cloak – A deeply hooded, enveloping cloak designed for movement along forest paths and inward journeys alike
  • The Briar Hood – A standalone hood with subtle irregular lines, evoking the tangled edges of wild places
  • The Threshold Robe – A central ceremonial piece, layered and ambiguous, intended for those moments of intentional crossing
  • The Crone’s Cap – A more earthy, grounded take on the classic witch’s hat.

Each piece will be crafted with care, with attention not only to form and function, but to presence.

A Return to Relationship

At its heart, the Briar and Bone line is not about fashion.
It is about a relationship.
Relationship with:

  • The land beneath your feet
  • The unseen presences that dwell alongside us
  • The deeper currents of your own inner world

The old stories remind us that the Fae are not separate from nature because they are expressions of it. To approach them is, in many ways, to approach the living world with humility, awareness, and respect. These garments are offered in that same spirit.

Walking the Edge

We do not claim to define the Fae. No one can. But we can choose how we approach the mystery. With reverence rather than trivialization. With depth rather than decoration. With a willingness to stand at the edge and not rush to explain what we find there.
This collection is an invitation to slow down, to step softly, and to listen more closely to the Otherworld.
And perhaps, if the moment is right, to feel that subtle shift that is the quiet recognition that you are standing, however briefly, at the edge of the seen world.

The Briar and Bone Garment Line from Black Mountain Druidry is coming soon.

Walk gently. The threshold is closer than it appears.
